Derby Champ Justify Wins the Preakness Stakes

A fog-filled track didn't slow Kentucky Derby winner Justify down, as he held on to win the 143rd Preakness on Saturday keeping his Triple Crown hopes alive.

In a nose-to-nose duel through the race with his rival, Good Magic, Justify managed to finally pull away in deep stretch while also keeping Bravazo at bay who made a gallant charge, but ended a half-length short. Tenfold placed third in the thrilling race on Saturday.

Trainer Bob Baffert won his 14th classic race, which ties him with D. Wayne Lukas for most all-time. Baffert also trained 2015's Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah.

Justify's win at the Preakness also puts him in the running to become the third horse to win the Triple Crown with an undefeated record. He will get the chance to become horse racing's 13th Triple Crown on June 9 at Belmont.
