Neil Young Says He Lost His Home in California Wildfires

Neil Young's home is among hundreds of California residences burned by wildfires raging in California this fall.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer made the announcement in a post on his website in which he also criticized the reluctance of conservative politicians, namely President Donald Trump, in acting on climate change.

"We are vulnerable because of climate change; the extreme weather events and our extended drought is part of it," Young wrote.

He articulated the unprecedented scope of the wildfires.

"It's too big for some to see at all," he continued. "Firefighters have never seen anything like this in their lives. I have heard that said countless times in the past two days, and I have lost my home before to a California fire, now another."

Elsewhere in his post, Young referenced the president's recent statement that "gross mismanagement" in California has allowed wildfires to spread unchecked.

"Imagine a leader who defies science, saying these solutions shouldn't be part of his decision-making on our behalf," Young concluded. "Imagine a leader who cares more for his own, convenient option than he does for the people he leads. Imagine an unfit leader. Now imagine a fit one."

Young has long been a critic of President Trump. He dedicated a live video of a recent performance of his 1970 protest song "Ohio" to highlighting Trump's most controversial statements on gun violence and the president's cooperation with the NRA.

Billboard reports that Young has owned a property in Malibu since 2016, where he's lived with his longtime partner (now wife) Daryl Hannah
