Oklahoma Driver Goes Around Roadblocks, Get Stuck In Sinkhole

An Oklahoma man and his dog had to be rescued after crashing into a sinkhole caused by flooding as he tried to cross the Arkansas River. Officials had set up barricades to keep drivers off the flooded roads, but the driver decided to go around them.

The driver, who has not been identified, tried to cross the bridge but the roadway gave out and he sank into the Arkansas River. Four units with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded and rescued the man and his dog, who were both unharmed. The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Officials shared a photo of his submerged truck on Facebook and advised drivers not go around the barricades. The vehicle remained in the water overnight, and officials are unsure when the bridge will be reopened.

There are two other bridges, both about 30 minutes away, that the driver could have used to get across the Arkansas River and reach his destination.
