Kim Kardashian getting praise from Mississippi's Governor.

Some of the top stories we discussed on this June 14 edition of "Gulf Coast Mornings with Kelly Bennett and Uncle Henry":

Governor Phil Bryant is praising reality star Kim Kardashian for her efforts in reforming the criminal justice system. In a Twitter posting yesterday, Bryant thanked Kardashian for being a champion for criminal justice reform, saying it wouldn't have happened without her. The post was accompanied by a picture of the two shaking hands. The governor and Kardashian were at the White House yesterday to mark the unveiling of a new Trump administration policy to help former inmates transition back into society. Over the past three months, Kardashian and her legal team have helped get 17 inmates out of prison, many of them serving life sentences for low-level drug crimes.

The ongoing flooding in the south Delta is having an adverse effect on alligators. State wildlife officials tell the Clarion Ledger the animals usually lay their eggs within 20-feet of water. But this year's hatchlings could find themselves far from any water when levels go back to normal later this summer, meaning many of them might not survive. Experts say hatchlings could also face increased threats from raccoons, which are being pushed onto the same dry land where alligators will lay their eggs. Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, wildlife officials say this year's nest failures shouldn't be as bad as years when hurricanes battered the coast. Failure rates during those years approached 100-percent for miles inland.

President Trump is laying the blame squarely on Iran following yesterday's attack on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman. In an interview this morning on Fox News, he said video evidence clearly shows Iran's role in the incident. The video he's referring to was released by the U.S. military. It appears to show an Iranian navy boat removing an unexploded mine from a Japanese-owned tanker. The video was shot by the USS Bainbridge, dispatched to the area after the attack.
