Six-Year-Old New Jersey Girl Escapes Terrifying Abduction Attempt

Authorities in New Jersey are searching for a suspect who attempted to kidnap a six-year-old girl in broad daylight. Police say the young girl was playing with some of her friends in her front yard. Around 3 p.m. on Sunday (September 15), her friends went inside but she stayed outside to clean up her toys. At that moment, a man approached and placed a paper bag over her head.

The girl screamed, which startled the man, who ran off before he could grab her. The girl ran back inside and her parents immediately called 911.

The Howell Police Department described the suspect as a white male in his 40s with black hair and a beard. He was wearing a black t-shirt and shorts and fled in a black SUV. The SUV had reportedly been parked in a parking space in her neighborhood for an extended period of time.

The young girl was not hurt and police began canvassing the neighborhood for the suspect. They have asked residents to review their surveillance cameras to see if they may have captured the suspect's SUV leaving the area.
