Fender's Stratocaster Is Getting The Lego Treatment

Fender's Stratocaster is the latest subject to be the focus of a LEGO set, and it's all thanks to a fan submission. As Brick Fanatics reports, the winner of LEGO Idea's "Music to My Ears" contest was a brick-made model of the legendary guitar.

“Everyone has seen the Fender Stratocaster guitar, it’s super famous and we think it’s going to be exciting to bring this to life using LEGO bricks,” LEGO Ideas Design Manager Sam Johnson told the outlet. “Music is a relatively new place for LEGO to play in so we’re really excited to see how we can execute this.” The set is expected to release sometime next year.

Though the music industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, Fender's had a remarkably good year. Last month, the guitar manufacturer revealed that it's reported record sales numbers in 2020.

“I would never have predicted that we would be looking at having a record year,” chief executive of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Andy Mooney, admitted to the New York Times. “We’ve broken so many records. It will be the biggest year of sales volume in Fender history, record days of double-digit growth, e-commerce sales and beginner gear sales. I never would have thought we would be where we are today if you asked me back in March.”

And they're sharing the love. A couple weeks ago, the company announced that its Fender Play guitar lesson app will be free through the rest of the year.
