This weekend is one for the great outdoors

A host of outdoor events is on tap this weekend, beginning with a fish fry now underway at the fire museum, Halloween at Hiller Park tonight, a fireman's day parade downtown and Catfish for Kids at Hiller Park on Saturday, and on Sunday dozens will gather in the Biloxi City Cemetery for the kickoff of the annual cemetery tours.

Here's a preview of the city-organized events:

-- The West End Hose Company, the city's all-volunteer fire museum, moments ago, at 11 a.m,. kicked off a fish fry that runs until 2 p.m. at the museum, at 1046 Howard Ave. The $8 plates include fish, potato salad, baked beans and bread. Drinks and desserts also are available. Those interested can dine in or pick up.

-- Dozens of families will gather thsi evening from 6 to 8 for Halloween at Hiller. Children ages 11 and younger can go trick-or-treating with local business set up along the Barbara Ferrill Softball Fields, dance to a DJ spinning tunes, and enjoy games. Those attending must use the Atkinson Road entrance to Hiller Park; Hiller Drive will be used as an exit only.

-- The freshly stocked pond at Hiller Park will be the setting Saturday for the annual Fishing for Catfish Kids Day. From 8 a.m. to noon, children ages 15 and younger will take part in the free event. Those interested should bring their tackle box, cooler, fishing string and bait to fish for door prizes.

-- The annual Biloxi Fireman's Day Parade takes place Saturday. As many as two dozen fire trucks - big and small, red and yellow, and all with sirens and flashing lights - will parade beginning at 11 a.m. from MLK at Main, travel west on MLK Boulevard, west on Howard and end at the West End Hose Co. No. 3, the city's fire museum, where a gathering will be held.

-- On Sunday afternoon, the annual Old Biloxi Cemetery Tours take place. This year's theme is "Biloxi Praise," with re-enactors telling the story of Biloxi's churches through the years. Beauvoir hosts Fall Muster this weekend

The cannons will be firing and the campfires will be flaming this weekend when Beauvoir presents its annual Fall Muster. The The Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library on Saturday and Sunday will offer the sights and sounds of the 1800s with period-garbed re-enactors and battles twice a day. Friday, Oct 19th:

Cinema by the Spooky Sportsplex at the Gulfport Sportsplex.  You can see "Coco" for free, there's a trick or treat and costume contest and more starting at 6:30pm.  The movie starts at dusk.

For Halloween at Hiller, enter park from Atkinson Road

One of Biloxi's most popular events, Halloween at Hiller Park, takes place on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and those attending must use the Atkinson Road to enter the park.

"We want everyone to enjoy the event, but you must enter from the west end of the park, at Atkinson Road," said Sherry Bell, Parks & Recreation Director. "The Hiller Drive area will be used only as an exit. This plan is only in effect for Halloween at Hiller."

Children ages 11 and younger can go trick-or-treating with local business set up along the Barbara Ferrill Softball Fields, dance to a DJ spinning tunes, and enjoy games.

Admission is free to this family-friendly and safety-conscious Halloween event.

Big Blind Walk with Senator Brice Wiggins and DA Tony Lawrence.  Support the Lions Club as tjeu bromg awareness to those who are blind or losing their sight, by wearing a blindfold as long as you can walk along the Front Beach in Ocean Springs.  5:30-7:30pm
