Governor Says State Was "Very Fortunate" With Sally

Gov. Reeves says Hurricane Sally caused some damage on the coast with high water and fallen trees-- but he says Mississippi was very fortunate to have escaped a direct hit from the Category 2 storm.  More than 10 thousand customers lost power but most have had their service restored.  The governor says the state has an obligation to help Alabama and Florida with their storm recovery if they request assistance.  The state is keeping tabs on other tropical weather systems including one in the southern Gulf. MEMA director Greg Michel says we could be going through the same kind of hurricane preparation again in a few days, depending on how that system develops. He says the experts agree that there seems to be an added layer of unpredictability concerning storms in the Gulf this season.
